Today, Gabala received Simurg in the 13th tour of the Topaz Premier League. As the squad still suffer from some shortages with injured players, head coach Dorinel Munteanu gave some tactical changes to the line-up. After ending with his one-game-punish off the pitch, Ruslan Abishov is back as a midfielder.

The pace of the match started by faster attacks of the guests. With 2 minutes into the game, Dragan Ceran came one on one with Kamran Aghayev. But Gabala”s keeper finished clear before the oppoenet”s follow-up shot was denied by our defenders. And 5 minutes later, Marko Stanoyevic”s free kick from 27 m range opened the scoring in the favor of Simurg. The goal prompted Gabala and Ekigo Ehiosun looked too close to scoring when his close range shot was deflected by the opponent goal keeper Pavel Kapsa.

At times, Simurg could have doubled their lead in counter attacks with exchange between Stanoyevic and Rashad Eyyubov, but Aghayev gave another save to Gabala denying the attack. Later on, Ehiosun passed to Dodo before reaching again the ball to fire into the net- 1:1.

The second period started the same way with quick inroads of the visitors. It was Kamran being capitalized again, in the 55th minute, with 2 more saves denying the ball from Stanoyevic before deflecting his second shot right away. Then Javid Huseynov came out with feedback against Simurg but Kapsa held on.

In the warm-up night, both sides looked pushing hard to not losing a point. Stanoyevic set another goal surging into the box before Ceran”s clinical finish- 1:2. Shortly after, the latter himself surged ahead and scored Sumurg”s 3rd. The red-black side could respond only one more as Bakhtiyar Soltanov met a telegraph by Javid Huseynov from corner with his debut for Gabala– 2:3.

The result gave a break to the unbeaten run of Gabala against Simurg after our last defeat to the opponents 569 days ago – 3 May 2013 – when the team of Zagatala won in 2:0. Gabala”s possession from the last 5 ties includes 3 victories and 2 draws.

Now Gabala are expected to face Neftchi in away for the 14th tour of the league.
