Gabala lost to Mainz 05 2:0 in the sixth tour of the UEFA Europa League’s Group C. The Bundesliga side started faster and took the lead from early minutes. But Roman Grigorchuk’s defensive line held on clear for a long time. When the German team could cut the back lines of Gabala, our keeper Dmytro Bezotosniy gave a great save to his teammates.

Mainz reached to opening the scoring with Alexander Hack’s goalbound shot within the box in the 30th minute. Ten minutes later, Pablo De Blasis doubled the German side’s lead. Then Gabala went too close to reducing the goal difference when Nika Kvekveskiri’s superb cross found Urfan Abbasov in a promising position, but the latter failed to finish.

Grigorchuk introduced Ruslan Gurbanov to the second period to reinforce the forward line. The footballer, playing for the Azerbaijan national team, gave a great shot but saw h effort tipped wide.

Mainz looked pushing hard to going more ahead but they were unable to break Gabala’s defense once again during the minutes left.

Then Filip Ozobic and Sergei Zenjov took efforts that gave troubles to the German keeper while the first shot past overhead before the Estonian’s kick went wide of a corner. After the final whistle of their jubilee thirtieth UEFA EL match, Gabala ended with the season’s continental campaign that was their second group experience in a row.
