Gabala lost to Neftchi 1:0 in the 22nd tour away of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
The game started by quick inroads into the visiting defense and Dmytro Bezotosniy stayed clear against two attempts by the host side.
Gabala, coached by Roman Grigorchuk, fed back with Araz Abdullayev’s free kick denied by the goal keeper.
Going into the 9th minute, the team of capital Baku went too close to opening the scoring but Bezotosniy held on again denying Ruslan Abishov’s close-range shot. With more minutes into the match, Gabala balanced the course of the match by some threats when Filip Ozobic gained three chances in a promising position but saw his efforts tipped wide. Later on, the Neftchi keeper cancelled Gabala’s another goal after a good effort.
The home side opened the scoring in the 39th minute when Namig Alasgarov in a wide space took a pass from the right and gave a header past the Gabala keeper.
After the goal, Gabala looked in their full strength with quick attacks led to a corner kick absorbed by the home side keeper.
It was Gabala restarting faster after the half-time but it was difficult to set a pulsating moment. Then Grigorchuk introduced Bagaliy Dabo. But Neftchi didn’t give up their lead to the opponents. Ozobic’s 12-meter drive past wide off the target in thirteen minutes left to the end. Then Dabo earned a free kick passed from Filip to Daniel Subotic saw his shot tipped off.
Gabala left the pitch with no points after unbeaten streak of the last eight matches. This was our second season loss that is also the first of the year.
