Gabala lost to Neftchi by 1:0 within the Azerbaijan Premier League’s 24th tour. The pace of the game started by mutual attacks and the home side went ahead with an early opener by the opponent captain Ruslan Abishov. Bagaliy Dabo capitalized on the ball in the 12th minute but saw his effort deflected by an opponent defender. Gabala’s stronger threat was set up by Ilgar Gurbanov with a long drive denied by the host keeper. The returned ball found by Dabo saw his shot tipped wide to a corner.

After the half-time, Neftchi looked all for keeping the ball on their own side. At times, Dabo was fouled close to the box that forced Emin Mahmudov off the pitch with the second yellow card. The free-kick by Filip Ozobix hit the pot. After Neftchi went down to ten, Gabala’s lead seemed evident keeping more spaces. But the host defensive line was able to stay clear.
