Gabala have won 2:1 over Neftchi in the 24th tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League today.
The away match started with quick attacks by the home side giving 4 troubles to Dmytro Bezotosnyi in the 5 minutes into the game. But the red-black keeper held on clear and then Roman Grigorchuk”s team pushed ahead to set up some threats with Rashad Sadigov, Dodo and Sergei Zenjov. But the opponent keeper also stayed unbeaten. Later on Brazilian Dodo with his powerful shot was off the target. But Neftchi could open the scoring by counter attacks in the 26th minute before Anyete finished clearly. The goal broke Bezotosnyi”s cleansheet run. Oleksiy Gai could have fed back but he failed from a promising position.
Another counter attack put Neftchi too close to doubling their lead but Rahman Hajiyev”s shot could not find the Gabala net. During the half-time, Grigorchuk changed Antonov to Asif Mammadov and put Zenyov ahead on the forward.
The change helped Gabala to work for the leveling goal after Ruslan Abishov”s free kick led to a head by Rafael Santos denied by the host keeper before deflecting also Dodo. But Santos”s follow-up shot leveled for the red-black side 1:1. The goal was registered the first-ever by the Brazilian player for Gabala in his 76th game.
Gabala kept up their lead that brought Gai much close to going one ahead with a superb header that failed to finish a good pass from Elvin Jamalov. Grigorchuk introduced Rashad Eyyubov sending Zenjov off.
Shortly after, Neftchi went down to 10 on 80 minutes when Jairo Rodriges picked up a red card on his foul. Ricardinho sent from the left in the closing minutes before Eyyubov capitalized on the returned ball to finish clinically – 2:1. The midfielder hit his debut goal for Gabala.
The result left the red-black side reaching to their 3rd win in a row.
