Gabala introduced its new head coach Roman Grigorchuk to the public at press conference right after the 1:1 home draw against Inter in the 18th tour of the Topaz Premier League.
With his opening speech, the club”s vise-president Fariz Najafov said Gabala were interested about the Ukrainian skipper in the last summer when they failed to strike a deal. But this time it worked out. “I am convinced our collaboration will last for long. We targeted a task to guide the team to Eurocup matches ahead of the new coach” – Najafov added.
Then 49-year-old Grigorchuk talks saying: “I am really happy being in Gabala. By our first meeting, I felt here are some people promising for big targets. Our visions are matching to each other so it was not difficult to make a deal. After I saw here a good condition, I was sure on the right decision about joining Gabala.
During our talk in summer, I decided to stay with Chernomorets for more. But after some changes with that club, I made my choice about Gabala.
I think now Gabala are not in their place they deserve at the league table. So we should develop the situation.
I was impressed by watching some matches of the team but the squad still need to be more complete. So some new transfers are expectable and I wuld like to see some players from Chernomorets here in Gabala.
We made a year-and-a-half deal with Gabala and I might be stay for more after this period in case of need. There are some serious officials in Gabala we can work for the club even without a contract. We will need time to build a strong team working harder to hit bigger targets”.
You will see affects in January 2016
Roman is going to start with the winter training camp in Antalya, Turkey during coming January and says “you will see affects of all efforts in next January 2016.
There are some high-level teams playing in Azerbaijan”s domestic premier league and it is not easy to be champion in this contest. So we need to work really hard for better possession before taking the league trophy”.
