- Gabala’s three experiences of all the 56 cup matches were against Neftchi. Our team faced the team from capital Baku in the 2013/14 season final for one tie and in the 2015/16 season for two semifinal matches. The all three ties ended in 1:1 and Neftchi went ahead in the penalty shootouts.

- Gabala will came on their sixth cup semifinal ever. The red-black squad were able to develop into the final after two of them as they forced off Khazar Lankaran in the 2013/14 with 3:0, 1:1 and Inter Baku in the 2016/17 term with 3:1, 2:0. These opponents were those who defeated Gabala in cup finals. It goes back to the 2007/08 season when Khazar Lankaran beat our team by 1:3, 1:1 and we lost also to Inter Baku in the 2008/09 term with 0:5, 2:0.

- In the 2015/16 season, Gabala faced Neftchi on their way to the final – 1:1, 1:1, pen. 3:4.

- It’s going to be our 37th home cup match after eighteen victories, nine draws and three losses. We scored 63 and conceded eighteen at home.

- In the present season, Gabala came on three cup events winning them all. They beat Mil-Mughan with a clean-sheet victory by eight goals in the round of 16 before forcing off Sabail in the round of 8 with 1:0, 4:2.
