Gabala accepted Baku in the 15th tour of the reserves league. It was a pulsating match-up of the pair, as the capital city team were unbeaten for the last 14 games keeping up on the top of the table.

The event could be considered revanche as it was the second meeting after the 3:2 win of the opponents during the first round in Baku.

The game started with quick pressures of Gabala, but the team of Luis Aragon broke the deadlock only in the 25th minute when Rey Mammadbayli gave a clinical finish after a cool telegraph by Rashid Amiraslanov- 1:0. The goal was the 11th of Rey in the current season.

During the further warm-up period, the sides pushed to the gates, but they both were unable to score on too many occasions. At times, they were off target with other moments when the keepers gave clear deflections.

Now Gabala put a brake on the clear possession of Baku substitutes in the season.
