Today SC Gabala is reaching in its 10th year after being officially registered by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Justice on 1st September 2005. The club was founded more ago – 3rd July 1995 with the name of Goy Gol (Blue Lake).
The club struck their debut in the domestic First Division in the season of 2005/2006 after being registered also by the governmental football body of the Caspian See country.
The club changed its name to Gilan in early 2006 playing for Khanlar region of Azerbaijan and hit the division championship right in their first season gaining the title of the premier league side.
Then in the summer 2006, PFC Gilan moved from Khanlar to Gabala a year before that they would change their name to PFC Gabala on 31st August 2007.
Today Gabala are sitting on top ranges of the domestic top-flight championship in their 10th season. Gabala”s possession is well evident with silverwares they gained in the last 2 seasons and hit the Azerbaijan Cup final in the 2013/2014.
The re-black side struck their debut in Eurocup matches in the summer 2014 before hitting up a spectacular success in the 10th year progressing into the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. They earned the title first side beating 4 stages on the trot after knocking out Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgia), Chukaricki (Serbia), Apollon (Cyprus) and Panathinaikos (Greece). Now this achievement put Gabala against Borussia Dormund (Germany), PAOK (Greece) and Krasnodar (Russia) in the C group.
Gabala also developed to be a basis body providing domestic teams, both youth and first team, powerful players.
The Gabala Football Academy and other sports fields are a part of the more successes adding to possession of the club today. Players produced from the academy became Azerbaijan champions 14 times in recent years.
It was held the international championship of Gabala U15 Cup 3 times in the last 8 years of the academy with participations of some many outstanding European clubs.
FC Gabala developed to be a sport club since 2013 being house to boxing, taekwondo, judo, sambo, karate, close combat, as well as shooting. In a short time, our challengers hit some many successes both in domestic and international contests, also in the Baku-2015 1st European Games where they finished with 5 medals, including 2 golds.
Gabala Shooting Club is one of the best shooting centers of the world hosting some many international championships, also World Cup Final last year and stage contest, last month, for tally to the Olympics Games to be held in Rio-de-Janeiro in 2016.
