SC Gabala’s 12 facts of 2019

1. First Cup

- Gabala hit their first-ever cup trophy after beating Sumgayit with 1:0 on May 19, in Nakhchivan.

- It was the fourth cup final experience, as well as third in a row.

2. Two Youth League Trophies
- U19 and U16 stroke the gold medals of the 2018/19 season’s AFFA Youth League

- U17 and U15 won the silver medals.

- U14 and U12 took bronze.

3. Two Medals in Minsk-2019

- Gabala boxer Afonso Dominges (81 kg) won the gold medal of the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus.

- Karate challenger Rafael Aghayev (75 kg) earned a silverware.

4. Once again in Youth League

- U19 reached to their third UEFA Youth League’s Champions Path performance ever that is the second in a row. The red-black team lost the home match to APOEL after away draw in the 1st round.

5. 20th Medal in Europe

Azerbaijan’s SC Gabala karate challenger Rafael Aghayev (75 kg) hit his 20th medal in European championships after taking a silver medal of the 54th Senior European Cup in Guadalajara, Spain. His all possession includes eleven gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.

6. Sixth Season in UEFA Premier League

Gabala’s senior team came on their sixth UEFA Premier League in a row after winning the Azerbaijan Cup. The red-black team joined the continental tournament from the 2nd Qualifying Round. Gabala were unable to go over Dinamo Tbilisi.

7. Abbasov Hit Champion Belt

C Gabala’s MMA challenger Nariman Abbasov, who fights also for the Azerbaijan national team, won the Fight Night Global at the Mytishchi Arena in Moskow, Russia. He beat Kuat Hamitov from Kazakhstan with 48:47, 47:47, 48:47. He was awarded also with Caspian Awards by the Avand Production at the Park Inn Hotel.

8. Two Footballers in Symbolic League Team

Forward James Adeniyi and defender Voislav Stankovic were listed in the symbolic league team by the Professional Football League in the summer for the season 2018/19. They made their way through, respectively, 9 and 6 experiences.

9. Baku 2019 – Youth Championship Medal

- Baku 2019 – 15th European Youth Summer Olympic Festival Azerbaijan’s SC Gabala judoka  Gulshan Bashirova (44 kg), 16-year-old, hit the bronze medal of the Baku 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival.  

- Bashirova gained also the silver medal of the World Junior Cup in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She fought in her 48 kg.

10. Two Gold Medals in a Year

SC Gabala judoka Imran Yusifov (+100 kg) beat his all opponents in the European Cup and won the gold medal in Luxemburg.

- He won also the European Junior Cup in Prague, Czech.

11. Bronze of European Championship

Azerbaijan’s taekwondo challenger for SC Gabala Javad Aghayev (68 kg) hit the bronze medal of the European Championship in Marina Dor, Spain.

12. New Sponsor Partner

SC Gabala and Jala Juices have signed contract for sponsorship at the Qafqaz City Hotel. At press conference, the club’s president Fariz Najafov and Jala’s marketing manager Amid Safarov made a 1.5-year deal that will write the name of Jala on the Gabala uniform.
