SC Gabala presents its 11 records in different fields of sports:
1. SC Gabala Reached 10th Year Old
On September 1st, 2015, SC Gabala hit its 10th year after being officially registered by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Justice on 1st September 2005. The club was founded more ago – 3rd July 1995 with the name of Göy Göl (Blue Lake). The club struck their debut in the domestic First Division in the season of 2005/2006 after being registered also by the governmental football body, AFFA, of the Caspian See country.
2. Making History
After the 2nd bronze on the trot, Gabala took on their 2nd UEFA EL experience battling all the way through from the domestic topflight to the C group stage. As the team ended their first-ever campaign with 2 losses, they could hit the 1st Qualifying round this time where they defeated to Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgia) 1:2 and Javid Huseynov scored the club”s first EL goal.
And a week later, the red-black side could strike their first win in the continental championship with the return match against the Georgian squad.
Gabala made history in Azerbaijan”s football being able, as the first club, to go through 4 stages of the UEFA EL, also as one of the 2 teams amongst 102 sides in the contest. The other team is Rusenborg from Norway.
3. Second Bronze with Record
Taking a poor start to the 2014-2015 season, Gabala met their new coach Roman Grigorchuk from Ukraine since January 2015 and extended their points through winning streak of 8 matches in a row and unbeaten 12 games as another record. This successful run guided Gabala to the 3:0 victory over AZAL to hit the 3rd place in the Azerbaijan Premier League.
The red-black side”s possession for the end of the last season included 54 points by 32 games going 9 points behind Inter and 5 points ahead of Neftchi. Gabala took 15 wins, also lost 8 and made 9 draws through 46 goals and conceding 35.
4. Spectacular Championship, Great Achievement
Gabala joined the 1st European Games in Baku with 17 challengers on box, taekwondo, judo, sambo, karate and stand shooting, and won 5 medals. Karateist Rafael Aghayev and boxer Lorenzo Sotomayor gained gold medals, sambo challengers Amil Gasimov and Vasif Safarbayov struck silverwares, while another karateits Niyazi Aliyev earned a bronze medal.
5. Gabala Youth hit 7 Medals
The Gabala Football Academy teams hit 7 cups from 9 AFFA championships. U17 finished the 2014-2015 season on top for the 3rd time of the academy over this age group.
U12, U14, U15 and U16 ended with silver while U19 did by bronze. Gabala UGIM gained the top place in the U10 league.
Only U11 and U13 ended with no medals.
6. Gabala”s 6th Experience in Top 5
Gabala substitutes ended 4th in the Reserves League with 49 points after 32 matches. They finished 7 points behind Neftchi and stayed in the top 5 for their 6th.
7. Gabala with 34 Olympic Tallies
Gabala hosted final of World Cup on Olympic Shootings that was organized by the Gabala Shooting Club and Azerbaijan Shooting Federation. The project was also supported by Azerbaijan”s National Olympic Committee, Ministry of Youth and Sports and was joined by 2,000 challengers from 100 countries. The contests was held on the way to the tally to the Olympics Games to be held in Rio-de-Janeiro in 2016. The tournament awarded 34 challengers with 17 types of tallies.
8. Meksikadan Dünya Kuboku ilə
Azerbaijan taekwondo team, including SC Gabala”s Mahammad Mahammadov, won the World Cup in Mexico capital city, Mexico.
In the A group, the squad took 2 early victories beating teams from Belgium and Uzbekistan, respectively, 57:31 and 31:11 to hit the semifinal. They beat Korea 48:30 progressing into the final where they earned a comfortable victory over Iran (42:23) striking the top award.
9. Record, Scorer and Winter Championship
With a poor start to the 2015-2016 season, Gabala substitutes beat the record of the domestic Reserves League by 10-match winning run. Ramin Guliyev”s side gave up their lead for a short period before regaining the top position again with the last game of 2015. Ehtiram Shahverdiyev scored 12, more than any other players.
10. UEFA Cup Winner Joined Gabala
Gabala started to 2015 with transfer of Russian football star Marat Izmaylov and got more reinforced with UEFA Cup winner with Oleksiy Gai. The midfielder, playing for Shakhtar (Ukraine) during 2000-2004 and 2006-2013, won the European Cup 6 years ago.
He scored 1 goal in 29 appearances for the Ukrainian provisional team and gained 6 leagues and 7 cups in his country.
11. Bests of 2015
SC Gabala have been rewarded The Winners of 2015 by Sports Research Center (SRC) of Azerbaijan, along with other 3 honors. So, Roman Grigorchuk also was titled with The Head Coach of 2015 while another Gabala hero Anar Hajiyev was awarded as the best press secretary of 2015. And Gabala IK newspaper”s Mehman Suleymanov was rewarded by Solidarity Cup.
