Gabala have ended the season as the runners-up of the Azerbaijan Premier League after 0:1 loss to Qarabagh in the final at the Azersun Arena, Baku.

The pace of the match started with quick attacks by the team from Aghdam. But the sides were unable to set threat against each other for a long time. Steeven Monroze gave a pulsating pass to Javid Huseynov staying in a promising position but the captain failed to deal with the ball. Later on, the French himself went too close to opening coming one-on-one with the opponent keeper but saw his effort tipped wide.

Qarabagh’s first pulsating attack led to a penalty shot in by Dani Kintana. After the goal, Gabala coach Roman Grigorchuk introduced Filip Ozobic. The red-black team looked trying for more attacks but the opponent defense held on clear. Then Monroze was denied by the post before Ozobic’s free kick was canceled by the defensive line. Just before the half-time, Javid Huseynov was charged by a red card and Gabala went down to ten.

After the restart, Grigorchuk introduced also Asif Mammadov. Qarabagh were unable to set any more pulsating moment as the Gabala defense and keeper were all to save their team. The red-black side gained also some momentums for leveling, but Ilgar Gurbanov failed to score after coming one-one-one with the keeper. And a minute later, Mammadov in the box gave another trouble to the Qarabagh keeper with a threatening shot passed wide.
