Gabala played against Neftchi in a goalless draw within the 14th tour of the Topaz Premier League.
Gabala started faster and went too close to scoring with early minutes into the game when Ekigho Ehiosun surged through the opponent defense to send the ball to Javid Huseynov in the box, but the latter”s follow-up shot was denied by the post. A bit later, the visitors could have beat the target but superior cross from a midfielder did not find anyone. It was Gabala looking leaders on the show with their quicker inroads into the other end. At times, Marquinhos was unable to give clinical finish after pass from Javid. Then Ruslan Abishov”s powerful free kick was deflected by the host keeper Stamenkovic”s finger tips to hit the woodwork before going out for a corner. The red-black side gave more troubles to Neftchi just before the half-time. It seemed well evident as the opponent keeper came out to join in the game off the box when Rafael Santos was difficultly denied by Stamenkovic.
The second period started by the same way with mutual attacks and it was Gabala again setting up most notable threats on the show. Ekigho was capitalized again cutting though the opponent defenders and came one on one with the goal keeper but the latter gave another save to his team denying the ball.
Gabala”s defender Sadig Guliyev upset Samir Masimov of Neftchi preventing his shot close to the box.
With the closing minutes of the game, the home side stepped up their attacks but Kamran Aghayev held on against Samir Masimov”s shot before deflecting Ernest Nfor”s free kick.
The result registered Gabala”s 2nd draw from Baku.
