The first Stand Shooting Championship of Azerbaijan has been held in Gabala. The tournament"s opening ceremony was joined by president of the SC Gabala Tale Heydarov and Azerbaijan Shooting Federation"s vice president Hafiz Jafarov. Almost 30 shooters were brought together to show their bests and among the participants, there were also Zemfira Meftahaddinova, who won the 2000 Sidney Summer Olympics, as well as Gabala Shooting Club"s vice president Elvin Ismayilov, Azerbaijan Shooting Federation"s Executive Committee member and Gabala Shooting Club"s technical manager Emin Jafarov, world cup winner, Azerbaijani record beater and Gabala Shooting club member  Nurlana Cafarova, first international master class of Azerbaijan, winner of some internationl contests Khanhuseyn Baghirov, five-time Azerbaijan champion Elchin Babayev and Pasha Ahadpur.

The championship was organized as a trial project before the Grand Prix of Shooting Olympics to be held in Azerbaijan in remembering national leader Heydar Aliyev from 14 to 21 August in Gabala.
