STATEMENT - Gabala against all violence in stadiums

SC Gabala regrets for the mess happened after the return match win (1:0) against Apollon within the 3rd Qualifying Round of UEFA EL.

After the unpleasant happenings in Cyprus, the Apollon fans kept their unethical behavior also in the Bakcell Arena, Baku last Thursday. And the Gabala supporters held up the Respect Regulation of the UEFA during the full time. But although their passion did not progressed to violence, the local police squad violated on innocent people, as well as fun club members in the stadium. The polices forced them to sit and watch the match in static and really calmly. The officers enforced some fans out of the stadium during the game and their violence developed even into aggression after the final whistle, which is seen evidently also in videos and photos that need no comment. Some victims have been reportedly taken to a hospital.

It is also disappointing that police violence on fans reduce enthusiasm of supporters to tournaments in Azerbaijan, where the sports are developing really fast.

As the SC Gabala, we state our position against any aggression in sports in the country. We support the fact that sits in stadiums are not spots of violence, but places where people gather friendly and to have a rest. We call up our all fans to take their sits in the stadium again and keep supporting their team Gabala.
