After the winter break, Gabala faced Sumgayit at the 19th tour. The heavy weather forecast forced the match to be held not in Sumgayit, but at the Bayil Arena pitch of capital Baku. Being the better side of the show, Gabala would move up on the top at the league table as Garabagh lost in the tour, of course if the red-black squad beat the home side.

The pace of the game started by check-up attacks of Gabala. The pressure from the visiting side worked out in the 3rd minute with Victor Mendy who headed in after having the ball from Nizami Hajiyev. After the goal, Sumgayit took the control over the ball but were unable to score in the half although some occasions.

It was Gabala score 2 more in the second half with Lorenzo Ebecilio shooting from the free kick. And the winner goal was scored by Leonardo da Silva, who was introduced in the second period. He gave a good shot to the return ball of Mendy 3:0. So the result left Gabala going up to the top at the table.
