Today, Gabala faced Sumgayit in away for the 3rd tour of the Topaz Premier League. The red-black squad came on the pitch just for victory, but they were out losing in 2:1.

The match started by quick attacks of the visitors. Gabala were close to opening the scoring in the 3rd minute but Volodimir Levin”s header was denied by the post. The episode was followed by counter attack of Sumgayit with Vugar Asgarov putting his team one ahead. The home side could lap up the plaudits for the goal only for 8 minutes before Kamanan superbly shot home the ball from Leonardo to level. Gabala could score one more to finish the half on top, but they were wide of goal on their some occasions. 

The second part started the same way as the squad of Yuri Semin were faster. Victor Mendy, Yannick Kamanan and Ibrahima Niasse looked very close to scoring their second with their off target efforts. 

The winner goal of the night came out right after the hour mark when the referee charged our captain Levin to be fouling on Sumgayit”s player close to the box and pointed for penalty. The Gabala skipper was sent off before host Ruslan Gurbanov hit home from the spot. 

Going down to 10, Gabala stepped up their attacks to level again but they failed with their efforts. The result left our team having their first loss of the season.
