Gabala judokas Mehman Sadygov and Vugar Shirinli, challenging also for the Azerbaijan national team, highlighted the red-black club in the Oberwart European Open in Austria. Sadygov, 60 kg, beat his all opponents to hit the gold medal of the cup. He faced Valentino Krnjic from Austria, Bauyrjan Narbayev from Kazakhstan and Issam Bassou from Morocco to reach to the semifinal where he won on Tatsuhiko Yamamoto from Japan. And then in the final, he took the victory on Gamzat Zairbekov from Russia.

And 66-kg Shirinli won over Stefan Kudera from Austria and Lasha Giunashvili from Georgia before losing to French opponent Kevin Azema. Then he beat Matteo Piras from Italy and Manuel Sheybeto from Germany to earn the bronze medal.
