Gabala are going on reinforcing the first team with new transfer Aleksey Gay. The Ukrainian midfielder arrives to be the 2nd signing a deal for the red-black club after Rashad Sadigov during the winter break. Aleksey has joined in the Antalya drills in Turkey and will play for Gabala in the next 1,5 year.
He was born on 6 November 1982. Although spending his last years with Chernomorets, he built up his career mostly with Shakhtar Donetsk starting from his 18 to play for this club in the 2000-04 and 2006-13 seasons. He gained 6 gold medals in Ukrainian league championships (2001/02, 2007/08, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13), as well as 5 silver medals (2000/01, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2006/07, 2008/09). His possession also includes 7 cups (2000/01, 2001/02, 2003/04, 2007/08, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13) and 3 awards from cup finals (2002/03, 2006/07, 2008/09). And he earned UEFA Cup (presently European League Cup) for Shakhtar in the 2008/09 season.
He also played for Ilichevets in 2004-06, as well as for Chernomorets since the summer of 2013 before joining Gabala. Aleksey also played for the Ukrainian provisional team during 2003-11 and scored one goal in 29 appearances.
