Gabalafc.az”s Veterans section visits former player, today Gabala Football Academy”s coach of the selection group Ali Abishov. Born in Hajigabul on August 31, 1968, he started with football in the Soviet time playing for Energetic Alibayramly and Ganjlik Navai. The former midfielder took his first-ever pace in the domestic league championship for FC Plastic of Salyan in 1992, where he scored 13 in 30 appearances.

Abishov also played for Inshaatchi of Sabirabat during 1993-1994 with 4 goals in 17 matches guiding him to Azerbaijan cup final.

He came on the pitch also for locally-based football clubs of capital Baku.
Neftchi (1994-96, with 24 matches), Khazri (1995/96 season second period, with 8 matches), Farid (1996-97, with 28 matches, 2 goals) and Baku Fahlasi (1997-98, with 24 games, 2 goals, then ANS-Pivani, 1998-99, with 30 games, 3 goals). Abishov could strike the domestic league champion over his 5 years (1999-2004, with 71 games, 4 goals) with Shamkir for 2 times (1999/2000 and 2000/01). His gallery of awards also includes silver medals gained for Khazri (1995/96) and Shamkir (2003/04), as well as bronze and Azerbaijan Cup for Neftchi (both in the 1994/95 season).
