Gabala’s midfielder Nika Kvekveskiri talks to gabalafc.az about the result of the back-to-back matches of the UEFA EL Play-off with Maribor (Slovenia). The Georgian footballer says:

“The match run really difficultly as we expected it to be. Maribor are an intellectual team with high experience in international championships. We were ready to the hard mission. But the ending period of the game was really harder as we went down to ten. But Gabala held on against the opponents and could protect the 1:0 result up to the end.

We prompted each other on the pitch after our staff reduced in number and believed in the result for our favour. Head coach Roman Grigorchuk had taught us what to do in every kind of challenging situations, even in going down to 10. And we responded to the task.

I am really happy that we hit a tally to the group stage for the second time. Now we are expecting the draw result to know the next opponents in the group.

And Gabala have nothing to lose in this stage and will be pushing harder to develop into the next round.

I congratulate also Qarabagh reaching up to the group stage and this is really a good victory for the football in Azerbaijan”.
