What we need is just to show a better result, Gai says

Oleksiy Gai was registered as the one who opened the scoring against Neftchi (2:2) in the last 32nd tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League. The goal appears to be his 3rd opener after the league game against Khazar Lankaran (1:0 - 31st tour) and cup event against Neftchi (1:1). The Ukrainian midfielder missed the 30th tour game against Ravan (2:0) on his punishment after his goal against Sumgayit (1:1). Now he talks to gabalafc.az saying:
“It is already a long time that we are unable to convert our occasions to goal. But it is also the follow-up result of our some many mistakes on those shows. Gabala went one goal ahead for 2 times, but we failed to keep the lead. Maybe this was because of we lost the focus at times”.
The semifinal cup match against Neftchi to be held 2 days later is of much importance for Gabala. This is really a basic moment as we are to stand for the chance of earning tally the final.
It is going to be the 3rd tie with Neftchi in a short period and it is difficult to predict the result as the sides can learn each other in these situations. I thinks we have to break the Neftchi deadlock by a good teamwork to hit the tally to the final”.
Gai scored 9 league goals and 4 in cup that are more than any other footballer of the red-black club. With his all 13 goals, he also could update his own record after having 12 in the 2005/06 season.
He adds: “Being a top scorer is not important for me and actually what we need is just to show a better result. It doesn”t matter who scores, midfielders or forward”.
Gai has extended his goals to 17 in his all 66 appearances for Gabala sharing the 5th place at the top scorers least of the team with Yannick Kamanan.
